The church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of
Maisons-Alfort, whose rather classical plan is in
the shape of a Latin cross, was built between
1908 and 1909 by the architect Jacquemin,
thanks to the donation of a plot of land worth
one hundred thousand gold francs from a
benefactress of the commune. This church was
made of concrete and brick. The choir was
refurbished in the 1970s. It was restored in
2016.
The instrument was built in 1897 by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. This
organ had been commissioned from Cavaillé-Coll by the
Russian Court, for the Great Hall of the Kremlin Palace in
Moscow. After the October Revolution of 1917, this order was
cancelled.
The instrument was then dismantled in Moscow and installed
in the Music Hall of the French Circle in Istanbul (Turkey). This
first purpose explains the particular refinement of the gilded
and sculpted cedar sideboard with watch pipes with gilded
escutcheons as well as an upturned console facing the nave,
whose sculptural work can be admired on its side panels.
In 1919, the organ was installed in the church of Notre-Dame
du Sacré-Coeur in Charantonneau by Mutin.
