The Dominicans of the rue des Tanneries arrived in the 13th arrondissement of Paris in 1938. They are the heirs of the Friars Preachers of the Porte Saint-Jacques (1217-1792), the Jacobins, as they were called for this reason until the French Revolution. After the re- establishment of the Dominicans in France by the famous Abbé Lacordaire, the convent was restored in Paris in 1849 in the former Carmelite convent, then in rue Jean de Beauvais. The current convent, belonging to the Dominican Province of France, dates from 1969. Source
